About Me
My name is Cath and I’m the owner and groomer at Whistle & Bark. We are a home-based dog grooming salon located in East Kilbride, Glasgow where your pet will be treated on a one-to-one basis and given individual care and attention. I’ve grown up with dogs since childhood and they have always had a special place in my heart. I currently have a Golden Retriever called Kelsey and Luna a Yorkshire Terrier. I hold the recognised City & Guilds qualification in dog grooming having carried out my training at Scotgroom, the top grooming school in Scotland. I also have a Canine First Aid Certificate and I’m fully insured. I would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver a high standard of service.
Handstripping
Gentle grooming hand strip to breed standard. Hand stripping involves manually plucking or stripping dead hair from the coat. On wired-haired breeds it allows a new ‘harsh’ wire coat to grow in. A stripped coat gives the dog a more traditional look where colour & texture of coat is maintained.
Nail Trimming
Your dog’s nails continuously grow and if left uncared for they can grow too long causing the dog pain when standing and walking. In extreme conditions the nails can continue to grow until they curl around and become embedded in the dog’s paw. It is therefore important that their nails are clipped regularly.
Ear Care
The health of a dog’s ears are normally overlooked as they can easily harbour parasites and infections. A general health check and ears cleaned should be carried out regularly.
De-Matting
Minor de-matting only carried out for dogs whose coats have become a little out of hand. Alternative treatment may be necessary depending on severity of matting and the coat may need to be clipped off. We abide by the Animal Health & Welfare Act and will not cause any necessary discomfort or stress to a dog.
