Welcome to Animal Paw Prints

Established in 1998, we are a licensed dog boarding kennels and cattery situated in Dolphinton, a countryside location near to West Linton, 18 miles from the Edinburgh city by-pass. Passionate about animals, the business was established by Carol, an owner of Weimaraner’s who won best breed in 2018 and 2019 at Crufts.

The cattery is 150 metres away from the kennels, so the sight or sound of dogs does not disturb the cats.

Being licensed by the local authority means that certain standards and conditions must be met. This is to safeguard your pet’s health and welfare during their stay with us.

Dog Kennels in Dolphinton

Purpose built and opened in 1998, the dog kennels at Animal Paw Prints are of the highest quality. They have been designed with hygiene, comfort and safety in mind. The kennels are constructed using thermalite block for insulation and are centrally heated. The floor is a specialised hygienic non-slip system made of rubber and resin. This also has heat reflective qualities should your dog choose to lie on the floor rather than in bed.

Each dog has his or her own kennel and run which is divided by a hatch. During the day they are free to come and go between the two as they please and are secured inside at night.

All bedding and bowls are provided. We use thermal ‘Vet-bed’ and plastic perla aerated beds. If you choose to bring your own bedding you are of course welcome to do so, however we do not allow bean bags as they are not practical for boarding.

All dogs are exercised individually (except dogs from the same family) at least twice daily in the grassed paddock.

Cattery in Dolphinton

Purpose built and opened in 2001, our cattery is the newest design and uses high quality materials for hygiene and comfort. It is situated 150 metres away from the kennels, so the sight or sound of dogs does not disturb the cats. Having only nine cabins, it is small, peaceful and personal. We are therefore able to give more attention to your cat than some of the larger catteries.

An insulated brick building with central heating ensures warmth even on our coldest winter days. The cats have their own cabins which have tiled floors and wipe clean surfaces. On three levels, it offers your cat comfortable sleeping quarters and a window viewing area to watch the world go by. Inside there are Perspex doors to detract from the usual prison look.

The television or radio is left on for them whilst we attend to other business; however, the staff lunch in the lounge area of the cattery between 1pm and 3pm when the cats are handled and groomed. Our kitchen is well stocked with all the usual top brand names however, if your cat has special dietary needs, we can cater for them also.

Tariffs

All dogs, all breeds, are charged at £18.00 per dog/per day.
All dogs must be vaccinated against Kennel Cough and have an up-to-date vaccination certificate.
Cats are charged at £12.00 per cat/per day.
Cats must have an up-to-date vaccination certificate.

Boarding Conditions

Here are our boarding conditions, if you have any questions.

No dogs or cats can be accepted without proof of current vaccination.
The daily rate is charged for the day of arrival up to and including the day of departure. Boarding fees are due for the full booking period should your animals be collected before the due date of departure.
Dogs must be vaccinated against Infectious Bronchitis (Kennel Cough). As the vaccine is a live virus, this must be done 7 days prior to boarding.
During busy periods of the year, a deposit may be taken when booking. If in the event of a cancellation we are unable to re-let that period, the deposit will be withheld.
We reserve the right to re-home any animal not collected within seven days of the due departure date if no communication has been received from the owner or their agent and all efforts to contact them fail.
