Dog home boarding

Why home board?

Kennels can be very expensive and are not always the best solution for looking after your dog. We pride ourselves in giving your dog a home from home when you are away – a break which we are sure it will enjoy.

Your dog will live in our house as one of the family in a warm and loving environment, will go on walkies with our dog, have the security of a fenced-in garden and be a friend for our dog and the other doggies staying with us. One of us is around the house all of the time and your dog will not be left alone in the house.

We cater for long or short breaks and if an emergency occurs at your home we would do our best to accommodate your dog.

Doggy day care (dog sitting)

About Doggy Day Care

If your dog is unhappy with being left alone at home, then daycare is a great solution! Out at work all day? – you can simply drop your doggy off at our house and pick up a happy, fed, well exercised and loved dog when you come home. This is called doggy day care, for the simple reason that it is like a childminding service, except for dogs! Click here for prices.

The benefits of Doggy DayCare include:

  • Relief from boredom and loneliness
  • Exercise, play and socialising with other dogs
  • Prevention of destructive behavior and anxiety
  • All-day supervision

Please come for a visit and see where you dog might be enjoying their day. You may book your dog in well in advance, or set up a regular schedule for care during your working hours, or you may be able to phone up and take your dog in on short notice (if there is an available space).

Fun-packed dog walks

Our countryside walks are ideal for all dogs big or small, we offer a FREE trial walkies which gives your dog the opportunity to meet us.

Prior to every walk your dog will be collected from your home and walked to the chosen location (almost always Bushey Manor or Attenborough Fields). Your dog will then be be free to walk on or off lead, playing with the other dogs and smelling all those smells.

All of the dogs with The Lead Role thoroughly enjoy their daily walks and persuading them that playtime is over and it is time to walk home for the journey home is the only tricky part about the job. We have a strict maximum of 5 dogs per walker: we believe that with any more the dog will not get the individual attention it deserves.

We only walk dogs that live within a 10 minute walking distance of Attenborough Fields. This way they do not have to spend up to an hour in a van while other dogs are collected and at the end of the walk they arrive back at home nice and tired and relaxed instead of having to spend up to another hour cooped up in a van while other dogs are dropped off.

PRICE LIST

Doggy Day Care (Pet Sitting) £20 per day *
£95 for 5 days
Dog Boarding £28 per day *
£190 per week
1 Hour Walk £15

* we have scoured the internet to find price comparisons for doggy day care and boarding. Prices seem to range from £27 to £45 a day for daycare and £35 to £60 a day for boarding. We think that our rates are therefore very competitive.

Doggy Day Care

Doggy day care/pet sitting is when you dog comes to our house and is looked after in a loving family environment as well as having great walks. Similar to childcare, but with walks!

Dog Boarding/Sleepover vs Kennels

Kennels charge from £32 per day upwards and give very limited walks (2 x 5 minutes if you are lucky). As a general rule, if kennels do not say they will walk your dog, then they will not. Beware also of the add-ons kennels have, such as charging for different diets.

We believe that our service is not only vastly superior to kenneling, far better for the dog (great walks a day and a loving family environment) and may work out cheaper.
