Dog Boarding

Dog Boarding at Barehams

Dogs are a commitment. FACT !

But they needn’t stop you from taking holidays !
At Barehams Boarding, you can go away confident that your pet is taking a holiday too!
All our guests benefit from…

Minimal stress

We have a reputation for doing as much as possible to minimise the stress of being away from master and home. Many dogs settle quickly and happily after just a few hours in our care.

Socialising

Our staff love dogs! They will give your pet plenty of affection and make lots of fuss around them during kennel cleaning, handling and other activities. Our relaxed working ethos helps to quickly alleviate any tensions in your pet.

High standard kennels

Our kennels are roomy and designed to provide a safe, secure and happy environment. Spotlessly clean, dry and bright with temperature and ventilation levels carefully regulated.

Exercise

Although our guests enjoy playing in their run, we provide a choice of extra exercise options for you to consider. From 15 minute play time sessions to training and other supervised activities, you can ensure your dog receives plenty of stimulation and exercise while you are away.

Diet

We will happily feed your dog with their usual diet and in their normal routine, simply bring this with you, clearly labelled with instructions, or visit our shop on arrival and purchase your pets food at very competitive prices. Please visit our shop page for more detail on ranges we stock.

Special care dogs

Is your dog vulnerable? Perhaps you are boarding a puppy or your dog is elderly, disabled or on medication, or maybe they are of a nervous or fearful disposition? This is not a problem for us !

Simply give us a call to discuss your concerns and requirements and we will talk through appropriate arrangements for extra care while they board with us.

Doggy Day Care

Doggy Day Care at Barehams

Our Doggy Day Care is an invaluable service if you work or need your dog looked after whether it be regularly, for a one-off event, a whole day or half-day.

Available Monday-Saturday
7.30am-5.30pm

There are lots of people who already own, or would love to own, a dog. But sometimes, changes in lifestyle, appointments, special events and work make it difficult to care for a dog on a daily basis.

That is why we have established our Doggy Day Care. It is an invaluable service if you work or need your dog looked after whether it be regularly, for a one-off event, a day or half-day.

Our Doggy Day Care Services are specifically designed for dog owners with busy schedules. We understand that most people work long hours and hate to leave their dogs alone all day. We have created a facility where dogs can socialise, exercise and develop positive behaviours all in a safe, cage-free environment. Your dog will get to play with his or her friends all day, instead of sitting at home lonely and bored.

Make no bones about it, Doggy Day Care is right for you too !
When you’re tired out at the end of the day there’s nothing like picking up your happy and well-exercised dog to relax with and enjoy.

About us

Set within 3 acres of countryside yet close to the M25, Barehams offers the very best Doggy Day Care Services in the area. We recognise the need for a safe, secure and a stimulating day for our guests and our aim is to create a friendly and playful environment. Your dog will be doing as it does best by naturally becoming part of the pack! We carefully select dogs that are suitable for Day Care and ensure that, when here, they are segregated into different groups dependant on their age, size and any other individual requirements, in order to get the most from their stay.

We benefit from very experienced staff, who, between them, have many years in handling dogs. In fact, some staff have been with us over 20 years! Tracey Occleshaw (owner) has worked at the family business for nearly 30 years, as such she benefits in having a vast experience in dog behaviours and animal welfare.

Day care pick up and drop off service

Unable to drop your puppy or small dog off to us, no need to worry you can use our Pick Up & Drop Off service available for Day Care guests.

Please note: Drop off and pick up is available within a 3 mile radius and is on an availability basis.

Socialising

Some owners bring their dogs to our Doggy Day Care purely for socialisation – it is very important that your pet learns how to interact and play with other dogs and our Doggy Day Care Crèche offers exercise, fun and socialisation – the key elements for encouraging a happy, well rounded and fun dog to live with.

Puppies

If you have a puppy, the Doggy Day Care is perfect for their early months! Just a few hours with us, even for a few weeks, will help them become happy, friendly and sociable pets.

Your dog’s first visit to Day Care

We offer an ‘open play’ environment with no kennel runs and therefore each dog must undergo an assessment before they can join the pack. This assessment will take place before your dog’s first visit. Please call to arrange a mutually convenient day and time for your dog to be assessed. During your dog’s assessment we will carefully introduce and monitor your dog’s behaviour and general well-being. Assuming everything is okay we will confirm suitability.

Please note: it is our policy to NOT include aggressive dogs. If you would like advice about aggressive pets and training please call us. We are also unable to accept dogs that are in season or are unwell.

Dedicated Day Care Reception area

We have a dedicated Doggy Day Care Reception area which will allow you to drop off your dog in a quick time which is away from our main reception area.

Our Doggy Day Care Reception is open in the mornings between the hours 7.30am-10am – this eases congestion and allows you to ‘drop off and go’.

Indoor arena

We have the best doggy day care facilities to ensure both our guests and their owners benefit:

  • Huge artificial grass indoor area – to help keep your dogs cleaner on wet days
  • A dedicated puppy day care area – to help ease the overwhelming experience of meeting and playing with bigger dogs
  • New segregated various outdoor areas

Pre-booking Doggy Day Care is essential

It is essential to prebook your dog’s full day care with us using our secure and speedy online system.  All you will need to do is register (if you are not already registered) and complete your details to prebook and pay.  Please note an assessment is necessary before your first visit.

Half Day Doggy Day Care

On most days we do have availability for Half Day Doggy Day Care, please ring on the day for availability on 01375 891421.

Proving the best possible care

Please always discuss with us any concerns you may have before your dog starts having fun at our Doggy Day Care.

Please note:

  • Please let us know of any dog characteristics which may make your dog unsuitable for Day Care: behavioural/health problems, anti-social or aggressive behaviour, lack of house training, or excessive barking.
  • All vaccinations must be up to date with flea and worming treatments.
  • We strongly recommend your dog is inoculated against Kennel Cough. Please note, however, the Kennel Cough Vaccination does not guarantee that your pet will not show symptoms of the virus. Inoculation must be done at least three weeks prior to arriving at the kennels. Barehams Kennels pet insurance does not ordinarily cover symptoms of Kennel Cough.
  • Dogs over 9 months need to be neutered and no bitches in season.
  • We ask that you do not bring your dog if it has had symptoms of vomiting or diarrhoea in the past 24 hours. We would not like to spread any type of illness to the other dogs.
  • Remember dogs play with teeth and claws which is normal for all all dog play. So if a puncture that may or may not require stitches, a nick on the ear that may bleed, scrapes and scratches. Any such situation arising will be dealt with by trained handlers. However, we stress that all dogs attending Barehams Day Care Centre will be at the owner’s own risk.
  • Barehams Kennels Pet Insurance does not cover injuries in the event of dogs fighting.
  • Please ensure you details by us are always up to date.
  • If you require your dog to be fed whilst in our care, your own food must be provided. All dogs will be fed separately and away from other dogs.

Our team is dedicated to providing a safe, clean and stress-free environment for your pet, even for the most nervous dogs.

With our experienced staff and commitment to quality, you can be sure your furry friend is in the best of hands.

Bath & Brush Out

Our Bath and Brush Out is perfect for your dog for in between a Full Luxury Groom or is ideal for dogs which shed their own coats.   He will feel completely refreshed and free of any matts, tangles and will smell gorgeous.

We will shower your dog, if on the little nervous side, with lots of reassurance, cuddles and love to help their experience with be a good one.

We nurture even the most nervous of dogs to ensure their experience with us is enjoyable, by giving them lots of love, reassurance and cuddles.

Nail Clipping

Dogs nails continuously grow, just like ours, so it’s an important part of dog grooming to keep them at a comfortable length. Many dogs do require nail clipping, even if your dog is street-walked. Street-walking your dog can reduce how often your dog’s nails need trimming.

We can carry out nail clipping on all sizes and breeds of dogs.

Why is grooming important

Grooming your dog is much more than just having a pretty pet who smells lovely.

Regular grooming will help keep your dog’s coat, ears, eyes and nails clean and healthy.

Grooming removes any dirt and spreads the natural oils throughout his coat, which in turn, means less tangled and matted hair, and clean, irritant-free skin.

Dog Training

Tracey Occleshaw

We have a small team of trainers which is headed up by Tracey Occleshaw. Tracey has the passion and ability to ensure you get the very best from your dog. Tracey has extensive knowledge and many years’ experience in obedience training. Tracey has devoted her full working career to working with and understanding dog’s behaviours.

Our trainers specialise in:

  • Puppy training classes
  • Puppy social classes
  • Obedience training classes
  • One to one training classes for dogs and puppies

“If you put in the training at the beginning you will then reap the rewards of a calm and happy dog.”
