Our Team

Our breeding business began in 2010, starting with just one litter from our Labrador, Misty. Since then, we have made it our mission to be the best breeders we can be by breeding from top-quality parents, fully DNA tested, good lines, and providing the best possible upbringing and welfare for our dogs. We ensure we continually keep up with new information in health and training.

When we first started, it was just my husband and I running the business, but now it has grown to include our grown-up daughter Rachel, her partner Jake, and other family members. We currently employ staff as well. Our core values are bringing healthy and well-balanced dogs into the world and being there for the lifetime of your puppies. We are here to support you with anything over the phone, in person, or through social media, and we give you lots of reading material and resources and links to help you along the way and to keep you connected to us.

Our Core Values

We believe we are responsible for every animal we bring into this world for their whole lifetime, and if anything ever happens within your family in the future and you can’t keep your dog, your dog returns to us. We believe in rearing naturally to keep the dogs as healthy as possible, including food, pesticide controls, and vaccinations. We feed all our animals a B.A.R.F raw food diet.

Why Customers Choose Us

Customers choose us because of our values and how we do things, as we are home-based; even though we are large breeders, it is all within our homes, and we are with them all the time. Our retired elderly dogs are with us until the day they die, and there are lots of family members to the puppies that you can meet when you come here including aunties and uncles obviously the parents, grandparents, and sometimes great-grandparents as well.

perfect pooches what we do

We have expanded our business over the years. First of all, we started after training in dog psychology and behaviour, then we had a litter of puppies and decided that was the avenue we would go down more heavily. But we still do dog behaviour one-on-one, and we also do some puppy classes. We have a grooming salon, and we do some basic aspects of canine fertility, including pregnancy scanning. We are licensed micro chippers, and for the last three years we have owned and ran our own pet courier company.

Our Future Plans

Future plans for the business include hopefully moving house. Hence, we have more land for more outdoor activities, we have a lot of land already and we have an agility course and exercise field. Still, I’d like to have even more and possibly we would open up a doggy daycare where obviously would have new staff employed for this.

We are a family run business from parents to adult children to younger children and the dogs are our world. When you come here you are coming into a family home when you get to see how our dogs live and how they live a normal life with us. We think that it’s really important that people see how the dogs live and it’s not just about paperwork and the puppies, it’s about seeing everything in life and the welfare of the animals.

Common Dog Behaviour Issues

Although domesticated dogs are much better behaved than dogs thousands of years ago, there are still those canine behaviours that are instinctive to them, which may become an issue for owners.

For a number of years the team of dog behaviour experts at Perfect Pooches have been offering a range of dog training services, using dog psychology, throughout East Sussex and over that time we have worked on a number of dog behaviour issues. Some of our most common dog behaviour issues include:

  • Separation Anxiety – It is common for dogs to become destructive or disruptive when left alone.
  • Barking – Each type of bark serves a distinct function for your dog, we can help teach you what each distinct bark means and how this can help you understand your dog.
  • Aggression – One of the most common, yet serious behaviour problems in dogs. Different forms of aggression requires different forms of treatment.
  • Destructive Chewing – Chewing can be seen as an accomplishment for your dog and believe it or not it’s healthy for their teeth. However your dog must understand what is and isn’t acceptable to chew.
  • Pulling on the Lead – Help your dog learn to walk calmly beside you. Never let them pull, or else they’ll learn that doing it sometimes pays off.
  •

Don’t be alarmed if you don’t see your dog’s behaviour issue on the above list, these are just a few to name. Our experts have dealt with nearly every behaviour issue, so there is nothing we can’t help you with. Registered Dog Breeders in East Sussex

Have you been wondering where to find a registered dog breeder you can trust? Or maybe you are searching for puppies for sale but you want to know they are a responsible breeder? So, how can you tell if someone is reputable and trustworthy? These are all relevant questions that you are entitled to ask yourself before committing to buying your puppy.

Research, Research, Research

Firstly, do your research. The amount of scammers and fraudsters out there is scary. Any good dog breeder worth their salt will be happy to prove who they are, prove their affiliations and registrations and put your mind at ease long before any money changes hands. You can also check with your local council to ensure they are licensed to breed dogs. Once that is done, you’re good to go.

Why Choose Us As KC Registered Dog Breeders?

As a family-owned business running for 15 years, we want the best life for our puppies and our customers, which is why we want to educate our owners and help society to have more balanced respect and safety for their family pets.

Each of the puppies we breed is healthy and balanced and looking for their forever homes. We try to rear as naturally as possible with minimum chemicals, pesticides and vaccines and we raw feed our dogs.

All of our puppies are immunised early using homoeopathic nosodes, we do not give puppies any vaccines before leaving us due to the high risk of adverse reactions in young puppies.

When you choose a puppy from Perfect Pooches they will be vet checked, microchipped, immunized through nosodes, up to date on vaccinations, wormed with a contract and extensive information on rearing and health.

We also supply you with two puppy packs which include:

As dog fertility specialists, we are dedicated to providing you with reliable, professional service to meet all your dogs needs, we cover all aspects of breeding for the novice to the most experienced breeder, our canine fertility services include:

  • Ultrasound Pregnancy – Ultrasound is an excellent way to determine if an animal is pregnant, if the foetuses are viable and what the gestational age is. However this isn’t an accurate method of determining litter size.
  • Ovulation Testing – Measuring progesterone levels is an easy and reliable way of gauging the optimum time to mate. It will also give you a more accurate assessment of when your dog is likely to whelp than mating date because we have a good idea of when ovulation has occurred.
  • Artificial Insemination Service – We use special catheters to artificially inseminate female dogs. We try to create as near to natural mating with the catheters, we can artificially create a 10 or 15 minute tie to allow the semen to enter the cervix.
  • Stud Dog Handling – If you are planning to breed your bitch, it’s helpful to learn more about dog stud service. The stud handling service is the act of the male dog mating with the female that is in heat. Many first time breeders don’t know what to expect from this experience.
  • Microchipping – Your dog is a not only a member of your family but often a significant investment both emotionally and financially. Protect your dog today with our microchipping service; this has been done by law and we hold a microchipping license.
