Hi, I’m Stephanie, I am a qualified ‘Dog Behavioural Psychologist’ working with dogs ‘Natural drives and instincts’; allowing dogs to work out what is required and developing their true potential in a kind and positive way.
I have continued to develop my skills and understanding of dogs by further training, striving to train happy, healthy and well-adjusted dogs.
I have an ever expanding pack that continues to teach me something new everyday. Combined with my training and their natural instinct, I believe I can deliver that knowledge to you.
My pack has given me an amazing opportunity to observe and understand how they communicate, from puppy to adult and into old age. I have learned invaluable knowledge about a balanced pack, a structure that is based on trust, cooperation and well defined roles. No aggression in the pack; just pure calm and assertive energy!
My hobby was ‘Dog Showing’ before my dogs retired and I have had considerable success in the show ring. The control and confidence that I had in my dogs allowed me to show them to their best advantage.
All my valuable members of the Raw Instinct Training Team have been dogs from my own pack.Â

Introduction to Treiball Training
Treibball means Ball Driving. Treibball is a sport of distance skill and teamwork. Dogs learn to push a ball with their nose into a goal with the guidance of their handler.
Introduction to Platform Training
A platform provides a visual barrier for your dog, which aids them in being able to hold position for longer periods of time. Platform dog training can be used  when asking a dog to sit or stand still in a specific spot.
Variety Course
Each week on the variety course is different – from formal training to Fun Brain Games and more besides.
Private 1 hour sessions are held at the training centre in Rossington.
These 1 hour private sessions are ideal for owners who wish to work on a specific behaviour with their dog i.e. pulling on the lead, come back when called, grooming, health checks etc.
These sessions are also for owners who may have a dog that struggles being around or just seeing unfamiliar dogs and people. I allow dogs the time to build up a relationship with me and my ‘psychology dog’ can help them learn vital ‘dog friendly skills’.
Private sessions can also help build up the confidence of the nervous\anxious dog, outside of the home and for those who can’t be left home alone without being in distress.
Also these sessions can help those owners who struggle to attend a group course due to work/personal commitments, as these sessions are on an individual basis and can be booked at a convenient time to suit.
Training at ‘Raw Instinct’ is taught by Stephanie Foster who is a qualified Dog Behavioural Psychologist.
Training involves working with a dog’s natural instinct.
Dogs are allowed to work out what is required of them through positive reinforcement. No harsh punishment or physical force just an assertive tone, ignoring and redirecting unwanted behaviour. This reward base system reinforces appropriate behaviour.
The result is a calm and relaxed dog.
Positive reinforcement training encourages a dog to work more for their owner to produce desired behaviour.
The use of a treat as a bribe encourages a dog to only behave correctly if it knows it will get a treat and therefore is more likely to misbehave if no treat is given.
Positive reinforcement training aims to prevent this behaviour. Treats should be ‘Guides’ not ‘Bribes’.
We want owner and dog to be a team, building a bond between themselves where the dog looks to their owner for guidance. Owners learn how to read their own dog’s body language and react accordingly.
A dog of any age will benefit from socialising and training; puppies can attend classes as soon as they are fully vaccinated.
Training classes are tailored to meet the needs of all dogs attending, allowing them to work at their own pace and for owners to discover what motivates their canine companion.
I can also offer one-one private sessions for owners wishing to work individually with their dog on behaviour such as lead work, recall and more serious issues such as anxiety or reactivity etc.
