Liberty K9 Dog Training UK (find us on Facebook) was created to provide much needed support for those dog owners who think they have exhausted every other option and still not found the help or the results they need or want.
We are ideally situated in the centre of England close to the M62, M1 and A1 making our location accessible to people from all over the UK (Manchester, Leeds, Huddersfield, Halifax and beyond) including Scotland and Wales.

Our unique and effective training approach consistently delivers results that delight our clients. We do this by creating a happy and harmonious relationship between dog and owner. We have a selection of programs to suit all dogs and owners whether Private Lessons or Residential Training.
We feel passionately that we will help owners who are struggling with their dog. Especially whose daily lives have become stressful as a result. We know that using the right tools, techniques and guidance, we will help you transform your dog and your relationship for the better!
The key to creating a successful dog and owner relationship is that the training you learn continues to be applied long after your lesson has ended.
Our Trainers
Julie West
Training Director/Managing Partner
Julie has a long history with dogs and dog training, having owned many different breeds and through training and competing in various different sports and disciplines.
Her interest in dogs doesn’t stop at training although she is a certified canine behaviourist, she also holds advanced qualifications in Canine Hydrotherapy and canine nutrition. She co-founded The Dobermann Trust rescue and continues to have an active role in supporting rescue as well as being a Judge of Kennel Club Good Citizen stakes, Dobermann breed classes, Obedience classes and in IGP.
Julie trains family dogs and specialises in aggression resolution and has competed in IGP nationally and internationally with multiple dogs.
Padraig (Paul) Flanagan
Training Director
A dog trainer with almost 40 years experience training hundreds, if not thousands of dogs, for a variety of different purposes, you’re in good hands.
An ex-police service dog handler, a multi national champion in IGP and competitor at world level for almost a decade, securing top 20 places several times, dogsport is a true passion.
Paul brings all of these skills and experiences to each family dog, specialising in aggression rehabilitation, to ensure that every client can have the family pet they desire.
Residential Training
If you opt for a Residential Puppy Foundation Program we will work with you to find a suitable date to drop your puppy off at our facility.
During their stay with us, they’ll live in our home and be trained and treated exactly the same way as our own puppies.
We’ll teach them all the behaviours they need to understand in order to be the best family pet, and we’ll show them the obedience skills they’ll need to develop in future.
By the time your puppy is ready to come home you can expect to see dramatic changes in their behaviour and we will show you how to continue this foundation work to develop the Perfect Puppy!
We want you to be as excited about your dog’s transformation as we are, and we need everyone involved to achieve your full potential together!
Price: £1400 for two weeks
Private Lessons
We’ll discuss your puppy with you and some of the challenges you may (or may not!) be having and can then recommend whether we think your best option is a Residential Program or a series of Private Lessons.
Our Private Lessons are carried out from Monday – Friday between 9am and 6pm.
During our private lessons, we will evaluate your progress and provide a comprehensive training program to help you achieve a solid foundation of puppy obedience and good behaviour.
This puppy foundation program covers any issues during walks (lunging, barking, pulling, etc.) and basic obedience commands on-leash (sit/stay, down/stay, place, recall).
We will also address behaviour problems, such as jumping up, mouthing, nipping, crate training, house training, counter surfing, or any other issues you might be experiencing.
Be ready…..there will be homework! It is supremely important that all of you as a family continue to train diligently in between each session. We will let you know what you need to do after each lesson.
Price: £500 for a program of 5 hours training

Three Week Program
This residential dog training program is suitable for dogs without serious behaviour issues but who require obedience training and manners.
This program covers all of the basic commands:
- Sit/Stay
- Down/Stay
- Place – Go to bed and relax until told otherwise
- Heel
- Come/Recall – First time and EVERY time
- We also include crate training, waiting for food, and waiting at doorways

*Although most dogs qualify for our three week program, there are some who require a longer stay due to the severity of their issues to ensure a successful resolution. Please contact us so we can help you assess which program best suits you and your dog’s needs.

IMPORTANT
All Board and Train dogs must be picked up & dropped off by the owner.
Residential Training Refund Policy
Once accepted for the Board & Train program, you will receive a PayPal invoice from Liberty K9 Training for the total Board & Train payment. The full payment is due in order to secure your dog’s reservation.
The total Board & Train fee includes a non-refundable £300. The remainder of the Board & Train fee is 100 percent refundable up until 30 days prior to your dog’s scheduled drop-off date. If you cancel your Board & Train program between 15-30 days prior to the drop-off, 50 percent of the remaining fee becomes refundable. If you cancel within 14 days prior to the scheduled drop-off date, no refunds will be given.
