Active Animal Pet Services

Be the first to review

My name is Bonnie and I have more than 30 years of experience in working with animals.
My career began with horses but over the years I have worked with and owned a large variety of animals including chickens, sheep, pigs, llamas, cats and reptiles.

Active Animal Pet Services first opened its doors in 2014 and in that time I have been lucky enough to have been entrusted with the care of some wonderful animals, many of whom can be seen in my gallery.

I understand that leaving your animals in the care of someone else is a difficult thing to do and I know how important it is to find someone you can trust.  I will always do everything I can to ensure that you are happy and confident in placing your animals into my care.  Each animal I look after is loved and cared for as if they were my own, I place a high emphasis on safety and I take pride in building a strong bond and friendship with the animals in my care.

I am insured by Protectivity, licensed by Wealden District Council, DBS checked and canine first aid trained.
I can provide excellent references on request and you can see reviews from some of my clients here.
Some of the qualifications I have gained & courses I have taken can be seen at the bottom of this page.

Services

I am based in Hailsham, East Sussex and cover a 3 mile radius.
For clients more than a 3 mile radius of Hailsham, a travelling charge will apply.

Dog Walking
From £12 per hour

I offer both group and solo walks.
My group walks are small, with no more than four dogs and are great for sociable dogs that enjoy running and playing with friends.
Solo walks are great for dogs that aren’t so keen on canine company or perhaps dogs on restricted exercise.

Walks are typically around 1 hour in duration (excluding travelling time).

My vehicle is equipped with a secure Barnesbrook cage with escape hatches for safe travelling. I always have a first aid kit and water on board.

For longer or shorter walks, please contact me for prices.

Please read my Extreme Weather Policy.

Home Boarding/Day Care
From £25 per day
Please note I am not currently accepting new dogs for day care or boarding.

I have a 5* license from the local council to offer day care and boarding in a home from home environment which is a great alternative to kennels.
A free meet and greet is always arranged prior to any booking to assess suitability and compatibility.

Due to high demand and limited availability, my overnight boarding is only available to clients who also regularly use my day care and/or walking services.

Please do take a look at my Home Boarding FAQs before contacting me.

Puppy Visits & Socialisation
From £8 per visit

I offer puppy comfort breaks where I will let your puppy outside to toilet and clean up any accidents.
This is great for getting your puppy used to other people, will help with toilet training, and I can also help to continue and reinforce your basic puppy training.
Once puppy is old enough, visits can incorporate short lead walks, with or without another, older dog to keep them company and help with their canine socialisation.

I also offer Puppy Starter Sessions to help set you and your puppy on the road to a great future.  Scroll down for further details.

Pet Visits
From £8 per visit

My pet visiting service is suitable for any pet.
Whether you have a cat that needs cuddles, a snake that needs feeding or chickens who need their eggs collecting.

Get in touch to discuss your needs.

Dog Training

I offer 6 week courses in general pet obedience and life skills.

Please visit Active Animal Dog Training for full details of my training classes and to book a space.

Puppy Starter Sessions
Get a head start on your puppy’s training and social development.
£35

I am a firm believer in prevention being better than cure.
Getting things right in the all important early weeks will help to avoid issues further down the line.
This is ideal for puppies between 8 weeks and 14 weeks and is a great pre-cursor to joining a puppy training class.
During a session we will work out the best ‘puppy plan’ to help you both get the most out of your relationship and put you on the right path for rearing a happy, well balanced dog.
Your starter session will cover things such as;

  • Toilet Training
  • Crate Training
  • Nutrition
  • Toys
  • Being Left
  • Socialisation
  • Early Collar & Lead Work
  • Handling

Sessions generally last between 1.5 and 2 hours.
All training is force free, reward based and most importantly – fun!

Handmade Fleece Tug Toys

Fleece is a great alternative to rope, it is softer and kinder on teeth and gums, it won’t fray or shed linear strands that can cause blockages.

Playing with your dog isn’t only fun, it also provides your dog with physical and mental exercise, improves your bond, can help release stress, provide a great reinforcer/reward for training your dog.

My handmade tug toys can be purchased from the link below, or if you are local to Hailsham, contact me to buy direct.
